Troops Rescue Kidnapped Colonel in Plateau, Foil ₦200m Ransom Demand

Nigerian military troops have successfully rescued an abducted army colonel in Plateau State, following a coordinated security operation that thwarted a ransom demand reportedly set at ₦200 million by suspected bandits.

Security sources disclosed that the senior officer was kidnapped by armed assailants who later contacted associates, demanding a large sum of money for his release. Acting on intelligence, troops launched a targeted operation to locate the kidnappers and secure the officer’s freedom.

The operation, which involved sustained surveillance and ground patrols, led to the safe rescue of the colonel without payment of the ransom. The victim was subsequently reunited with military authorities and is reported to be in stable condition.

Security agencies have confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators and dismantle criminal networks operating in the area. Authorities reiterated their commitment to intensifying operations against banditry and other forms of violent crime across the country.

Members of the public were also urged to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces to support ongoing efforts to enhance safety and security.
