Police Detain Port Harcourt Pastor Over Alleged Threat to Minister Wike, Intensify Search for Ex-Rivers SSG

 

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the detention of a pastor in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, over an alleged plot targeting the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Police sources disclosed that the arrest followed intelligence reports indicating a potential security threat linked to the suspect. Acting on the information, security operatives moved swiftly to take the pastor into custody as part of efforts to prevent any possible breach of public safety.

In a related development, the police have launched a manhunt for a former Secretary to the Government of Rivers State (SSG), who is said to be connected to the ongoing investigation. Authorities confirmed that search operations are ongoing to locate and apprehend the former official.

The police noted that investigations are still in progress and assured the public that all allegations will be thoroughly examined in line with due process and the rule of law. Officials declined to release further details at this stage, citing security and investigative considerations.
