The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered an illegal operation involved in the production and distribution of counterfeit cooking oil and alcoholic beverages in Lagos State.

According to the agency, the facility was allegedly producing fake versions of popular edible oil brands and reprocessing alcohol for resale to unsuspecting consumers. Officials described the operation as a serious threat to public health, noting that unregulated food and drink products can cause severe health complications.

NAFDAC stated that the discovery followed intelligence-led surveillance and enforcement actions carried out by its officers. Several items were reportedly seized during the raid, while investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend all individuals connected to the operation.

The agency has advised Nigerians to remain vigilant, buy consumables only from trusted sources, and report suspicious products to the appropriate authorities.
