MTN Faces ₦500bn Class-Action Lawsuit Over Alleged Data Depletion and Billing Issues
Telecommunications company MTN Nigeria is facing a class-action lawsuit over allegations of unexplained data depletion and billing irregularities reported by subscribers.
The suit, which is seeking ₦500 billion in compensation, claims that customers have experienced rapid data loss and unclear billing practices without adequate explanation or transparency from the service provider. The plaintiffs are also demanding improved disclosure and clearer billing systems to protect consumers.
According to the filing, affected subscribers argue that the alleged practices have resulted in financial losses and reduced trust in the network’s data services. The lawsuit further calls on regulators to ensure stricter oversight of billing mechanisms within the telecommunications sector.
MTN has yet to issue an official response to the claims. The case is expected to draw significant attention as it raises broader concerns about consumer rights, transparency, and accountability in Nigeria’s telecom industry.
