Lawmaker Warns Soludo Over Sit-at-Home Policy in Anambra

A federal lawmaker has cautioned Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo over his handling of the ongoing Monday sit-at-home policy in the state. The lawmaker expressed concern that certain approaches to ending the policy could inadvertently increase insecurity in the South-East region.

The lawmaker emphasized the importance of dialogue and community engagement in implementing policies that affect residents’ daily lives. According to him, abrupt enforcement measures or lack of consultation may escalate tensions and create unintended security challenges.

Governor Soludo had recently outlined measures to ensure compliance with government directives and to gradually phase out the sit-at-home practice, which has affected businesses and daily activities in Anambra communities. Observers say balancing security and public order while respecting residents’ livelihoods is critical for lasting peace.

The federal lawmaker urged the state government to adopt inclusive strategies, highlighting that collaboration with traditional leaders, youth groups, and community stakeholders is key to maintaining stability and trust.
