INEC Resumes Nationwide Voter Registration, Begins Second Phase of CVR

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially resumed its nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, marking the commencement of the second phase of the process.

According to the commission, the ongoing registration is open to eligible Nigerians who have attained the age of 18 and are yet to be registered, as well as registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, correct personal details, or replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

INEC stated that the exercise will take place across its local government offices nationwide, with online pre-registration also available to ease congestion at physical centres. Applicants who complete the online process are required to visit designated INEC offices for biometric capture and validation.

The commission reiterated that the CVR is a continuous process designed to ensure inclusive participation in Nigeria’s electoral system and encouraged eligible citizens to take advantage of the exercise ahead of future elections.

INEC further assured Nigerians of its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and the integrity of the voter register, while urging citizens to avoid misinformation and rely only on official INEC channels for updates.
