China Rejects Role of Any Nation as ‘World’s Judge’ Following Maduro Detention in the United States

China has strongly criticized what it described as unilateral actions by the United States, stating that it will never accept any country positioning itself as the “world’s judge,” following the detention of an individual linked to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in the U.S.

Speaking on the development, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized Beijing’s long-standing opposition to unilateral sanctions, extraterritorial law enforcement, and actions that undermine international norms. The spokesperson said such measures violate the principles of sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations.

According to China, the detention raises broader concerns about the misuse of domestic laws to exert influence beyond national borders. The Chinese government urged countries involved to respect international law, uphold due process, and resolve disputes through dialogue rather than coercive measures.

China also reiterated its support for Venezuela’s sovereignty, noting that political and legal issues involving sovereign states should be addressed through internationally recognized mechanisms, not unilateral enforcement actions.

The statement comes amid ongoing diplomatic tensions between the United States and Venezuela, as well as wider geopolitical disagreements involving sanctions, jurisdiction, and global governance. Beijing warned that such actions could further complicate international relations and undermine efforts to promote stability.

As of the time of filing this report, U.S. authorities have not issued a detailed public response to China’s remarks. The situation continues to draw reactions from international observers, highlighting ongoing debates over the limits of national authority and the enforcement of international law.
