The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the immediate termination of all contractors and consultants involved in revenue collection across the state.

Governor Pastor Umo Eno made this declaration while addressing stakeholders, stating that all contracts related to state revenue generation have been cancelled, regardless of the sector involved.

“All contractors, all consultants to the state government on any revenue, whether it’s transportation, whether it’s motor parks, are all terminated,” the governor said.

The governor explained that the decision is part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and efficiency in revenue administration across Akwa Ibom State.

According to him, the state government intends to take direct control of revenue collection systems, eliminate leakages, and ensure that all funds due to the state are properly accounted for.

While further details on the new revenue framework are yet to be announced, the move has sparked widespread reactions among stakeholders, particularly operators in the transport and motor park sectors who are expected to be most affected.

Governor Umo Eno assured residents that the policy is designed to strengthen governance and improve service delivery in the state.

More details are expected as the government releases implementation guidelines.
