The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has formally asked a court to dismiss a lawsuit filed against it by former United States President Donald Trump.

Court documents show that the BBC is seeking a dismissal on legal grounds, arguing that the claims brought against the media organisation lack merit and should not proceed to trial. The lawsuit is part of a broader legal dispute involving Trump and several media outlets over coverage he considers unfavorable.

The BBC has maintained that its reporting was conducted in line with established journalistic standards and within the protections afforded to the press. The broadcaster insists that the case does not meet the legal threshold required to move forward.

Legal analysts note that motions to dismiss are common in high-profile cases involving public figures and media organisations, especially where freedom of expression and press protections are involved.

The court is expected to review the BBC’s filing and determine whether the case will be dismissed or allowed to continue. No ruling has been issued as of the time of this report.
